Forensic Psychiatry

Forensic Psychiatry is a subspecialty of Psychiatry that focuses on the intersection of mental health and the law.  Dr. Wiita is Board Certified in Forensic Psychiatry and completed his training at the USC Institute of Psychiatry, Law, and Behavioral Science. He has extensive experience consulting and providing opinions on psychiatric issues in legal contexts. As a forensic psychiatric expert, he works in an array of capacities with attorneys, courts, or other parties involved in actual or potential litigation.

 
 

Ethics in Forensic Psychiatry

As a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL), Dr. Wiita follows the AAPL Ethical Guidelines for the Practice of Forensic Psychiatry. Furthermore, his opinions are based upon, in addition to his education, training, knowledge, and experience, the records and information with which he is provided. 

Dr. Wiita generally expects to receive any and all records, materials, and information that are relevant to the matter and the formulation of his opinions. If, however, after having formulated opinions, Dr. Wiita becomes aware of additional information from any source, he reserves the right to change his opinions based upon said additional information.
